Funny or Die

Those around town are all too aware while the non-Nashvillites out there may not be aware at all, that almost the whole of Nashville has been out of gas since Friday.  I’ve never seen anything like it: entire gas stations roped off with yellow caution tape while dozens of cars lined up down the street at random gas stations that still had some petroleum left to offer.

I find a great deal of irony in all of this. The shortage was precipitated no doubt by Hurricane Ike and the disruption of the refineries in Texas, but a major metropolitan area like Nashville should never have run out of gas. I can just see the oil executives now, sitting around the boardroom, scratching their heads and wondering how this all happened. Meanwhile, millions of barrels of crude oil are not making it to their destinations because down on the pipelines all over America there are dozens of old school pipeliners standing around with their thumbs up their asses not doing a lick of work because they’re too busy laughing at their jackass intern project manager who doesn’t know where the hell he is or what the hell he’s doing and instead he’s just running around looking for a bathroom or at least a goddamn tree so the doesn’t piss his pants because he wasn’t wise enough to go before they left in the morning.

The latest issue of Rolling Stone is all about the new age of comedy and they mention several very humorous websites. I encourage you to check out this one and watch the handful of short videos entitled Drunken History. The premise is quite simple – some average individual gets wasted off their ass then tries to tell a story about some historical event while being filmed. The film maker then hires some real life actors to act out the story verbatim. It’s the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
